ninaluba Woven Bags

The idea first sparked back in 2014, when I was invited to a Design Project celebrating the Interweaving of Different Cultures. For the occasion, I created an Origami bag made from Woven Strips of soft faux suede – a material that would later become one of my signature elements.

This autumn, as I was making a new Origami bag in Taupe faux suede, that early woven experiment came rushing back to me. It felt like a quiet reminder from the past – an invitation to return to the technique, but with the experience, skill, and vision I have gained since then.

So I began to explore. I played with two different strap widths. I cut and carefully edge-finished each strip (the original had raw edges), and wove them into two prototypes that later became the Woven Bags – the smaller MINI and the larger TOTE.

What began as a single idea woven more than a decade ago has now grown into two new designs, each carrying a thread of that original inspiration – but reimagined for today, with a Touch of Elegance, Craft, and Memory Woven into Every Line.
